Toddler Summer Activities

Summer fun is in full effect in our house! This means lots of outside water play and tired toddlers! Parent win! I’m a sucker for Dollar Tree and always have to peek inside every time I’m in the area. Most of this cheap stuff provides HOURS of entertainment even if it breaks in a day or two. I’m all for cheap entertainment that tires out the kiddos. Here’s a list of a few things I got for this week’s summer of fun.

WATER SHOOTER!

I’m not entirely sure of the proper name of this toy but water shooter seems appropriate! Haha. For some reason my two year old isn’t a fan of the pool or getting in water but she sure does love getting sprayed with water. I filled up a bucket of water and let them both shoot water at whatever their heart desired. This was a great water activity that lasted a couple of hours.

WATER GUNS

I bought a few cheap water guns for some family fun that we can all participate in! They’re perfect enough that the stream of water won’t hurt or scare my 1 or 2 year old. Run around and chase them to tire out those little legs faster! Haha

(Don’t forget to stay hydrated! I got the CUTEST Cinderella and Frozen milk bottle cups from ZAK brand this week.)

Make Bracelets

I know this isn’t water related BUT we need a break from the heat.I found alphabet beads, colorful shape beads, AND stretch cord all at the Dollar Tree! This was a mommy and me activity just for me and my 2 year old! She LOVED it. It took some real concentration on her part to bead the cord and she did GREAT!

MAGIC DINO PILLS

Talk about blast from the past! I found the babies in the toy aisle an HAD to get them. Who wouldn’t love this kind of dinosaur magic?!

ICE BLOCK TREASURE HUNT

Dollar Tree has so many play figurines! I bought a couple of jungle animals and put some other toys that she had laying around in there as well. Start this one at the beginning of the week because the block of ice will take a few days to make. Fill a quarter of your container with water and put the toys in. Let that Freeze. Repeat until full! Use warm water in the water shooter, spray bottle or even a hammer to get their toys out!

Play Doh

This dries out pretty fast so this usually last 1-2 days of fun. I usually grab a small 8 pack of colorful dough along with dough cutters. Cookie cutters work just as good! If you want to be really frugal you could definitely even make your own to save you a trip!

Children’s Books

Dollar Tree has so many cute books! They’re perfect bedtime stories because they’re short and sweet. We read EVERYDAY to help build vocabulary.

Bubbles

You can always have a good time with bubbles! There were a ton of cute styles to choose from!

Coloring Books/Crayons

There are always tons of great coloring and activity books at Dollar Tree! There are coloring books for both children and adults!

Finger Paints

This can get pretty messy but the décor the kiddos can make are endless! Cut out a silhouette of your favorite character, tape to board, paint around it, let it dry, and take the silhouette off. Ta-Da. Cute and cheap décor.

Puzzles

I love to do puzzles! They have tons of characters to choose from so picking one out is the hard part! I'm a girl mom so Disney Princesses are everything right now and I'm loving every minute of it.

I hope these fun and cheap ideas help keep your little ones entertained as much as it did mine! More summer fun for toddler articles are on their way! Happy Summer <3

Here’s to a great week of summer fun and lasting memories! Hope your kiddos enjoy these activities as much as mine did!
