Beauty and the Best Cake Smash

Hey y'all! My little girl is turning the big ONE! I can't believe how fast it has gone! She is a walking, laughing, and babbling machine. I'm pretty obsessed with Disney princesses so it's no surprise that I chose my favorite movie Beauty and The Beast as her theme! I love the live action film that came out this past year so I HAD to make this her 1st birthday theme. Lets start off by how much of a DIYer I am. MOST of my DIYs are pinterest fails haha BUT this one actually came out successful.

Decorations In a course of two days I was able to get everything. I spent less than $20 on this whole set up and I loved how it came out!

I went to Hobby Lobby and grabbed:

Blue gift wrapping paper in the party section $6

Yellow triangle banner also in the party section $5

Red flower garland from the wedding section $5

Elegant mirror I found at Dollar Tree! (score!) $1

Rose bouquet of 3 at Dollar Tree $1

Chip Tea Cup was something I already had ( I told you I loved Beauty and The Beast)

If you're not doing a Beauty and the Beast theme grab any wrapping paper that you think would be a nice backdrop. Hobby Lobby actually carried some brick wall backdrop paper that was nice. Grab one or two banners or tassel garland that coordinate with your theme/colors. You can buy cheap props such as balloons or party pomp poms. Ta Da. There's your DIY cake smash set up!

Instructions

I taped 2 pieces of blue wrapping paper side by side and about 4ft high and rolled and rolled it out on the floor about another 3 ft.

I then taped the banner where I wanted it and tried to place the red roses in the spaces between the yellow banner.

I took separated the 3 roses. One rose for the prop and cut the petals of the other two for decoration.

I just propped the mirror up on the wall as well as the Chip the teacup.

Tips

I made sure to pick a very bright spot in my house so I could have good lighting! My perfect spot happened to be my kitchen where I was able to open my windows to my double doors. If the lighting had been just right I might have done it under my counter bar area to have decorations hang down.

I decided to do the photo shoot right after my little's ones afternoon nap. After nap time she seems to be happy and I NEEDED a happy baby. Timing is everything to get good pictures!

After I get enough good photos I use the Aviary and ToolWiz Photos app to edit all my pictures! They have an awesome selection of editing tools and filters.

I hope my DIY Beauty and the Beast cake smash set up gave you some more ideas on how to set

up your very own! Thank you guys for reading! Good Luck!
